To create dynamic and empowering
training programs and curriculum for children, which promote safe and thriving environments, which are distributed through organizations who are already working locally.
Teaching first aid to young children is not only a good idea in a country with limited medical resources, it initiates them to understand about germs and body fluids, which then empowers them to realize that they do have control of their own health.
By creating culturally acceptable materials in-country – we provide a vocational and income-generating product for girls and young women, while providing a valuable health-safety tool for the organizations already working in the local community.
By working directly with donors and local partners, we can help them to choose a project and a product, which will most help their community; such as installation of bio-sand filters to purify water, or a girl’s skills and income generating program.
We can reach maybe 1,000 children in our own resource center, but by creating videos and improved training materials together with other organizations, we can reach 1,000,000 through the hands of those who are already working there.
TIOS began in 2005 with $150 and the idea that by teaching children survival skills, and then having them teach the adults; communities could become active participants in their own health-safety, accident prevention, first aid, and HIV awareness.
